- Exercise your body: Research has shown that long-term physical exercise such as walking and swimming improves cognitive processing and overall symptoms of fibromyalgia.
- Train your mind: Reflective games, riddles, games like quizzes and checkers, and other mentally stimulating activities can also help keep your mind sharp.
- Stick to a sleep schedule: sleep at the same time every evening and wake up at the same time every morning. This helps the body repair itself physically and mentally.
- Find ways to keep your focus: Divide the tasks into small steps to avoid trying to do too much at the same time. When you begin a task, avoid distractions until you can give it your undivided attention.
Fibro fog is a cognitive impairment associated with fibromyalgia. Patients with fibromyalgia often experience forgetfulness in addition to a decrease in cognitive function, memory, and mental alertness. These symptoms can be more annoying than diffuse pain and can change the lives of these patients for the worse. Although fibromyalgia remains a mystery, there are many ways to reduce the severity of symptoms.
